In 3 days from Friday, 13th to Sunday, 15th of March, VFCD including chairman, coordinators, international volunteers and internships went to Tuyen Quang province and enjoyed 3 volunteer days in countryside’s fresh air.

Tuyen Quang is a very nice place with palm tree forests, tea farms, poetic streams and green fields that make up an interesting destination to every people comes there.

Then we went to Tan Trao – the Green Capital. Many historical stories were recalled when we arrived Na Lua hut, Tan Trao Indian banyan tree and the Communal house. Our hearts were beaten up when we saw all the remained witnesses of the Vietnamese giant revolution. Besides, we also learnt some customs and habits of Tay ethnic minority through the story involved in the Swear Stone of the fighting will in August 1945.

We also had a chance to make Banh Chung (Vietnamese Rice Cake) and we spent 7 hours that night taking care of the Chung cake pot. This was a very exciting experience in volunteering since we had stayed with the local people and cooked traditional foods with them. Now, we all knew how to make a Vietnamese rice cake and how hard to make it have the right shape. That was the funniest time when many volunteers tried to make their own cakes and found out that it was hard. After that, we were singing together, drinking champagne and telling stories while taking care of the Chung cakes’ pot.

In conclusion, we experienced a really interesting trip with chance to exchange together about volunteer experiences and cultures, make and taste a lot of local specialities, enjoy beautiful mountain scenery with fresh atmosphere in the countryside and share our life with the local people to understand them more. This trip is really a precious experience in our life.
