Place qualified Native English speakers into regional schools, colleges and universities in local towns and Hanoi capital. Tutors will assist with the development of student’s English language learning. You will have the chance to teach and experience the real Vietnam and other provincial cities and towns.
Project Duration:
Positions will be for 2 – 12 months
The minimum placement will be for 2 months. Applicants requesting long term placements will be favorably considered.
Role Statement:
·Assist with English language tuition during class
·Provide extra-curricular tuition and activities to encourage
·Assist with development of a cultural exchange program
·Research community and refer potential projects to VFCD. Assist VFCD as regional volunteer officer to deliver volunteers projects in the area.
·Prepare a monthly report to VFCD outlining activities and relevant aspects of the development of their students.
·Upon completion of their placement, prepare a handover document that will allow incoming tutors to settle in more easily.
Salary and benefits:

Accommodation will be organized by VFCD and the host school
Transfers to and from local towns will be provided by VFCD
Project funding and tutor salaries are provided by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education And Training

If you have not had previous experience in developing countries, you should keep in mind that living and working conditions might be markedly different from those to which you are accustomed. You must be fit and able to cope with these sometimes stressful climatic and living conditions.
Health
Before departing for an assignment, you will need to have a comprehensive health check completed by your doctor. Vaccinations may be required and you will be responsible for the cost of these. It may be difficult or impossible to obtain certain prescription medications so please carry enough medication for the entire assignment period. A basic first aid kit is also advisable.
Insurance
All foreign people travelling or living overseas should take out travel insurance before leaving their country.
Medical facilities
All towns that volunteers live in will have access to medical facilities
Weekend travel to Hanoi
Tutors will be able to travel to Hanoi on weekends. Depending on the distance from Hanoi travel time can be between 3-5 hours on public bus.
Food You will be required to eat local food as western food is not readily available.

As these placements involve minimal supervision from VFCD, these positions are intended for experienced volunteers or applicants with clearly demonstrated personal experiences
Volunteers will need to be highly self-sufficient and will be responsible for working with their host school and community to plan their day-to-day activities.
